Outside of its Walls

Although Paris’ museum of fashion (Musée Galliera) will be closed until spring 2012, the museum has launched its first exhibit “outside of its walls” to celebrate the classical and sophisticated dresses of Madame Grès, otherwise known as Germaine Émilie Krebs. During the span of her fifty-year career, Madame Grès created dresses for an array of fashionable and celebrated women, including Marlene Dietrich, Greta Garbo, and Jacqueline Onassis. Over eighty designs and illustrations, as well as photographs of the designer at work and celebrities modeling her wares, are displayed at the Musée Bourdelle

The most amazing thing about this historical timeless fashion is that... these  designs were made and sewed in the 30's 50's 80's even...decades later...These pieces have been seen on runways today! Fashion is a circle donchu tink? Especially the hooded dresses, extra chic...Designers always look further down for inspiration.Fashion is timeless!
