There's debate over Sandra Bullock's adoption of an African-American child from New Orleans. Some users on Essence magazine's Web site questioned whether Bullock was fit to adopt a black child. What i understand is Essence is a magazine mostly for black readers. The point was that since she's not black, she's unfit to raise a black child and that whole idea is absurd. I now see that we ourselves black people, we are the ones who sometimes divide ourselves and bring racism onto us, we pick it out, point it out , complicate it and complain like heck and make somebody listen.
How about a Kudos for Sandra for adopting a child in America, her own country. How about a Kudos for Sandra for going forward with the adoption even as her marriage is falling apart. How about a Kudos for Sandra for keeping all the details private and not making this adoption a publicity stunt.
