The Witches of Gambaga

Its hard to prosecute someone on a crime you cant prove they committed right? But Its witchcraft...who needs proof, elderly women in many villages live in danger due to claims of witchcraft... The Witches of Gambaga is a documentary about a group of women condemned and exiled as witches to the village of Gambaga in northern Ghana. And this touches me coz Even in Tanzania we've heard of stories like this, so and so killed on claim of witchcraft, it happens...but what's 'their story' Are they really 'Witches' do they really haunt people in the night just for the fun of it as we're made to be believe from various stories we always hear...

Produced by Nigerian feminist academic Amina Mama and Ghanian filmmaker / writer, Yaba Badoe who also directs and narrates the film.
